Competition Architectural Metals, Inc., established in 2002, is a full service contractor, providing the highest quality architectural metal and glass products, throughout the New York Metropolitan area and beyond. Starting in the design stage, we regularly assist architects with their conceptual ideas and feasibility studies, with respect to the proposed application. Once the shop drawing process begins, our leading edge, in house engineering department goes to work, utilizing the latest AutoCAD and modeling software. During fabrication, the focus turns to our shop, which is manned by some of the industry’s most talented professionals and equipped with state of the art metal working equipment, including water jet technology. Our fleet of trucks handles all deliveries, where the fabricated products are then put in the hands of our erection crews, comprised of Local 580 Ironworkers and Local 1087 Glaziers, all direct employees of Competition. From our general foreman on down, our men are consistently working to the tightest tolerances in our industry. This is something that can never be compromised, when working in a “Museum Quality” environment. All of this, combined with a strong administrative staff and the hands on approach taken by our two owners, Daniel Sergi and Paul Irvine, has resulted in long term relationships with NYC’s most prominent construction managers, developers, architects, engineers and consultants. Daniel and Paul both have over 35 years of experience in the metal and glass industry and feel very strongly about making themselves as available as possible, whether it be the CEO or president of a major firm, or a newly hired project manager making one of their first few calls. At Competition, everyone is treated with the same level of respect and the words “no” or “this can’t be done” are rarely, if ever, spoken.
Our reputation in the industry has resulted in a high level of trust being extended to us by our clients. This has led to the successful completion of numerous design/build projects. The process starts with us being brought in for a review meeting, where we are shown a preliminary concept and advised on the projected budget. Once on board (in either a GMP or cost + fee capacity), we then work with the architect/designer, coming up with the best balance of aesthetic and monetary concerns. This process allows the architect’s vision to be realized, while keeping the owner’s budget intact.
As New York City construction becomes more and more of a showcase for the world’s most prominent architects, the need for partners around the globe is crucial, with regards to the procurement of material. At Competition, we have strong ties to vendors throughout Europe, Asia and North America, especially related to oversized and custom glass applications. We are highly experienced with the logistical challenges associated with bringing in materials from overseas and the establishment of proper warranties. All of this results in us being a true single source for international glass and metal products. As the need for global interaction increases, Competition is leading the way.
We are as diverse as we are talented, fully equipped to produce a multi million-dollar custom façade, yet still able to service our valued clients on a smaller scale, when the need for a simple handrail or piece of glass arises. All projects, regardless of size, are given the same level of attention because, at Competition, we understand that it’s YOUR project, and is important to you.
We value the relationships we’ve made along the way and look forward to making new ones. Please contact us today and let us go to work on your project, we are confident that you will be impressed with what our team has to offer. After all,
“Competition brings out the best in all of us”
